This is a catch some of us will get to see again, as it was caught on tape. Here’s the story, from Derrick:
“Keith Reynolds (pictured with fish) and I had an opportunity of a lifetime this past weekend as my good buddy professional musky fishermen and guide Justin Mullins from Cave Run Lake, Kentucky came down to the New River to film a show for the nationally shown “Catch Ya In The Bluegrass” TV show shown on the Sportsmen Channel.
Day one started out amazing as Keith and I had been on fish all week preparing for this moment. Our holes didn’t disappoint as 11 minutes into filming (not even time to do the intro to the show) Keith set the hook on an absolute brute.
Turns out our first hole had just produced a 50-inch musky. We all went crazy as Justin guided the net around the huge fish. It was only the start of things to come. More musky were caught as well as a 22-23″ smallmouth bass.
Even though I didn’t catch the 50-inch musky I believe I was more excited about it than Keith was. The fish was released after a quick photo and Keith is going to get a replica mount made.
Catch Photo and Release is vital no matter the size of the fish to insure these giants can be caught again. Hope you enjoy these photos. I personally can’t wait to watch the show.”
You gotta love it when a plan comes together. Congrats to the team. I’ll be setting my DVR to record the show.
Oh, and in case you missed it, here’s a link to my Friday story on my James River muskie adventure with my friend Kevin Meeks and his buddy and (now full-time guide) Matt Miles.
