“I started off catching bluegills for bait to catch flatheads, and ended up catching a huge 1-pound-plus bluegill. After getting bait I set up on several spots that have produced big flatheads in the past. Fished shallow points, wood cover, rocky cover and could not find a flathead. I finally got a big channel on cut bluegill in about 20 ft of water. It’s my third citation channel from Claytor this summer and the biggest so far this year, around 15 pounds. It was released to catch again. Temps in Peak Creek were 79. The night before, I fished SML and water was 88. I caught several 3- to 5-pound channels there.”
Congrats on the nice cat, Chip, and thanks for the report.
