They live in the country and don’t have wireless Internet so I wasn’t able to get to pending comments until today. I’m at the library in Myrtle Creek catching up on a few things.
We’ve been having fun. My folks live on a creek so the girls and I have been doing a lot of creek stomping and “swimming.” We’ve been catching lots of crayfish, and this medium-sized bullfrog.
I got my non-resident fishing license yesterday ($59 for seven days; ouch!) and Dad and I hit the South Umpqua River for a little smallmouth bass fishing. Timing wasn’t good, as it was midday with high sun and hot. We caught a few dinks on Berkley Power Minnows. We plan to hit it again this afternoon. It’s a little overcast today so we may try topwaters.
My brother, Greg, and I have tentative plans to fish the Rogue River for steelhead tomorrow with my friend Mark Freeman of the Medford Mail-Tribune. I might also get up on the North Umpqua with Greg, though time is slipping away before we’ll be back on a plane to Roanoke.
