“First time sending you a picture of any deer my son and I have taken, but wanted to forward a snapshot of the double we took on Nov 19th. Oddly enough, we killed these two deer in the same field where my niece (Lacey Kessler) killed her first deer later in the season.
My son, Sean, is now a junior in high school and is into everything – making it hard to carve out time to spend in the woods together. He got home at 4 p.m. on the 19th and we both agreed the wind was perfect for a quick afternoon hunt in the “treehouse field” (a place I’ve been lucky enough to hunt since I was 8yrs old – I’m now 43). We were in the stand by 4:45 and had his 5pt and my doe on the ground by 5:15.
No size to speak of, but memories don’t always come with record-book horns. My grandfather passed away this year and he was quite the outdoorsman who will be missed. Sean was carrying his hunting knife and I had on his watch. I know that he was looking over us as we stood there together and appreciated the time we could spend together.”
It would be hard to add anything to that great story. Congrats John and Sean, and thanks for sharing your memories with us.
