Shooting Wire's Shepherd weighs in on gun list

Jim Shepherd, who produces the Shooting Wire and Outdoor Wire newsletters, is as plugged into the outdoor world as just about anybody I know. If there's a topic of importance out there, he's on it.

Not only does Jim have great news judgement, he's an excellent writer who doesn't start typing until he's done the research and done some thinking, whether or not his column is an objective report or an opinion piece supported by that research.

I've been wondering when Jim would offer his thoughts on the concealed carry permit list thing here at The Roanoke Times and I got my answer this morning. Any guess as to his position?

You can read his piece HERE.

I can't believe I am reading posting to this blog, (I am not the outdoorsy type) but the RT blog seems to have ground to a halt. Actually, I can't believe what I am not reading. I don't see anything from the RT that says that an error in judgment was made. Mr. Shepherd's article was concise and articulate and I appreciated reading it here. Kind of makes me wonder why Mark is allowed to comment when clearly everyone else has been shut down. Is it only a matter of time for you too, Mr. Taylor?

Everyone needs to remember that Christian does not, on his own, have the power to hit the "print" button. He is not in this alone, but his name will go down for posterity as being the "evil" one.

I am really disappointed at the track the RT is taking on this.

Thanks for sharing, and allowing me to vent.

What's really telling is that NOT ONE of the RT editors responsible for this egregious misuse of public information have the decency to stand up to accept responsibility for this incredibly stupid article.

Even the deplorable cretin Trejbal himself hasn't the decency (or the [courage]) to apologize for equating the law abiding citizens of Virginia with sex offenders.

The embarrassing silence from the liberally biased editorial RT staff is quite telling.

This has been a textbook example of despicable and completely irresponsible behavior by purported "journalists".

It's precisely this kind of printed tripe that has transformed the mainstream media into the "lamestream" media on a national scale.

Who needs the biased "reporting" from the RT when we have the internet anyway? Good riddance.

I find it hard to believe the R.Times would just clam up without even a slight hint of remorse. Can you post a good civil lawyer site. The ones I have are awaiting a ststement from the R.T's. Well as I was told time will "add up". T.J

It's too bad that Christian Trejbal and the Roanoke Times management refused to be interviewed by CNN for a spot on the Paula Zahn Show on CNN Monday night. What happened to all that "sunshine" that Tejbal wanted to pass out? Now when you have a chance to discuss this in a larger forum, you run and hide like the cowardly hypocrites you are. I'm curious to see what Phil Van Cleave will have to say about your irresponsible actions.
